We hosted a week of inspiring events and discussions at the agency to offer serious advice on dealing with mental health issues of your own and of the people around you.

Great tips included ‘Ask twice’, when asking someone how they are in the morning and not settling for their first auto-response answer; plus the ambition of making conversations about your mental health as commonplace and ‘normal’ as talking about your physical health were underlined.

To help see real change and improve understanding around the mental wellbeing of staff, during the week 16 people across the group trained to be mental health first aiders. While they are not therapists, they have been trained in how to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening. They’ve all been given a green lanyard to wear so they are, hopefully, easy to spot on a daily basis.
